I lost 42 lbs. WHILE pregnant and could have easily lost my youngest son, Mouse, who had to be born early due to being small for gestational age and had blood sugar issues due to this condition. HG is serious for both mom and baby and something most people never even hear about…

And for God’s sake, when a women tells you she’s battling with hyperemesis gravidarum, DON’T suggest she try crackers and ginger ale. For all you know, she has a picc line of Zofran taped to her thigh as you speak. Trust me, she’s way past morning sickness cures, even if you mean well :(

She isn’t faking or exaggerating - without modern medicine an HG mom is literally dying to have her child. Raise awareness!

Lucky to have had a mother who loved me no matter what, who taught me how to always be myself, be strong in being a woman, and to stand up for what I believe in. My mother raised 10 children beginning in the 40’s and having her last baby in 1963. She saw a lot and stayed true to herself through all of it. My mother was a very gentle person, yet so strong at the same time. She truly just wanted all of us to be happy. Not all of my siblings had an easy time at life, some have already passed sadly. I am glad my mother died before any of her children. I think of my mother most days, even though she had been gone for 24 years this June. She died when my oldest was 10 months old. I dream of her too. Last week in Shavasana, I had a vision of her sitting on the beach, knitting. It brought tears to my eyes, it was if she was there with me. She left me at a time in my life when I was truly finding myself, when I was beginning my own family. I am sad we didn’t get to share what I was truly to become in life. It took me into young adulthood to really figure out who I really wanted to be as a person. When I looked down at that baby and realized, what I do now will affect this person for life. And the truth is, I just lived the life I had been taught. I am thankful it was a good life, not without flaw, but good. I see so much unhappiness here on Tumblr. So many young people searching. For Mother’s Day I wish all of you the power of the universe to find what you need to give your babies all that they need to be happy like my mother did.
And to my beautiful , wonderful daughters, thank you for making me what I am today. As you grew, so did I. My love for you is complete, my devotion never ending. That is it. It doesn’t end in infancy and it’s not about the tools you’re using or not using. It doesn’t matter if you’re a parent, teacher, or another kind of caregiver. It doesn’t matter if you work full time, part time, or stay at home. What matters is when you are with children you are responding to their needs. Consistently. Those repeated interactions of kindness, closeness, and emotional support at all ages are what creates a sense of trust and security in a child—knowing that the ones who take care of them meet their essential needs. That’s the “attachment” of attachment parenting.”

- Attachment Parenting International Facebook Page (via mydearestamelie)
